Community Watch

Neighborhood Watch SignThe Community Watch program is designed to provide communities within a certain geographic area a way of dealing with quality of life issues. Every citizen wants their neighborhood to be a safe place for their family to grow and be protected from outside harm. Part of the Community Watch program is giving communities a way to better themselves through cooperation and education.

Being a member of Community Watch allows one to participate in unique training, safety assessments and connections with fellow neighbors. When neighbors come together for a common purpose, they become an incredible force and criminals and the effects of natural disasters. Below are some of the programs offered to Neighborhood Watch participants:

The CodeRED system gives county officials the ability to deliver pre-recorded emergency telephone notification/information messages to targeted areas or the entire city at a rate of up to 60,000 calls per hour. It also allows callers to receive severe weather warnings on the telephone as soon as they are issued by the National Weather Service. This is especially important as the tornado sirens are not able tobe heard inside a residence or at all in most locations.
