Sheriff Donald Craig has been a resident of Pickens County for over 30 years. Sheriff Craig began his Law Enforcement Career in January of 1992 with the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office. After being hired as a Detention Officer he worked his way up through the ranks of the agency until he was appointed Chief Deputy.
As Chief Deputy, Sheriff Craig was directly responsible for the daily operations of the Sheriff’s Office; developing and managing the budget operations, overall supervision of the uniform patrol division, criminal investigations division, court services division, and the adult detention center.
After serving 11 years with the Department, Sheriff Craig left to begin preparing for his campaign for Sheriff. During this time, he operated a local service station and self-storage business in Jasper, Georgia.
Sheriff Craig and his wife Tina reside in Talking Rock with their 2 children. His family also remains active as members of Talking Rock First Baptist Church.
In 2008, Sheriff Craig was elected and began his service on January 1, 2009 as Sheriff.
